Mahalo to those of you who came to our very first lā ohana of the year. For those who could not make it we missed you and hope to see you at the next one!
We welcomed our returning staff as well as new staff which included our new Po'o Kula Lori Pereira. We took care of paper work, went over our school's mission and vision, policies and procedures, and learned about the importance of protocol at the beginning and end of each day. There was even time for projects to meet and go over their Aloha 'Āina Education program and expectations of both the haumana and the ohana.
It was a wonderful day in Makiki Valley and how alive our kula became with everyone on campus. Even kupa 'āina of Maunalaha Valley joined us for our annual pikai led by our school's co-founder Keola Nakanishi.
Also a huge mahalo to all of you who were able to donate to our short two day drive for our ohana on Maui. We were able to send over 5 truck loads of your generous donations and know they went directly into Kahana and into the hands of those displaced by the fires.
Attached you will find the powerpoint and handouts that were shared at the different rotations.
